UltraWipe has many outstanding features. It is used by many enterprises due to its reliability, flexibility and unquestionable data wiping including features like the DoD+, Wipe Disk Free Space and Memory. We've tried to recover files and data after using the utility and failed! Can't wait for the next version the UltraWipe Pro. 17506

Doesn't work. Defrag your hard drive use UltraWipe on selected test files reboot your computer and you can still find enough of the files with PC Inspector File Recovery to see what you were trying to delete. Stick to Eraser.. 11688

The SBC Connection Manager uses two files named */detectos.chkosfornic.xml. Despite placing both files in the "exceptions" tab and unchecking the "ScanDisk files (*.chk)" option on the main window, UltraWipe still deleted both. This is unacceptable in my view, for if I hadn't backed them up, they would be unretreivable now.
What otherwise would be a good program just got wiped from my system. 9747

Ultrawipe is an effective cleaner. Too effective.
I first used this freeware about 3 years ago for
a period of 2 years. Then on the final cleanup of
many - it would not stop "wiping" and literally
wiped away my hard disk entirely!
A few years later time had mellowed my last very bad experience - and I gave it a second chance.
No problems for about 18 months - then just tonight & once again Ultrawipe was on a roll!
50MB of "setting up for a good old wipe" and deja vu - I stopped her there - and uninstalled never to use again. So Beware! 8491

I downloaded and installed this utility and it is very good indeed. As a Software Engineer, I look for certain quality, feel and robustness in an application and Ultra Wipe got it. I like the features, ease of use and the flexibility of the software. The interface could do with a face lift to give it a more modern XP ergonomic kind of look and feel but that is not the priority when one is concerned about how the application performs and what it can deliver and in that department this prog wins hands down. 7761

Excellent utility. After my trial of Tracks Eraser Pro expired,i sought out a similar but free program which would overwrite the Index.dat file and similar, with secure methods like 7 D+D or 35 Gutmann overwrites. Ultrawipe does exactly the same job in every way. Keep in mind, that if you also choose to overwrite Index.dat and Recent files,it will want you to reboot after in order to be able to overwrite those files (as they are in use when PC is running, and are locked). It asks you click "yes" to reboot after that option. But it doesn't seem to "automatically" re-boot your machine (Bug?). You must restart manually for some reason. No problem though. It also clears all Internet records, and Memory. With 7-35 times overwrite, that's a powerful "free" wiper for sure. I used "Winspy" to check Ultrawipe's efficiency, and it passes with flying colours. Not a trace left in any folders such as Recent,IE Browser,Index.dat,Open/save,etc. 4499

I've used this program for some time and it is very good. If you have Windows Me though, remember to put your System Restore folders in the excluded list or you will loose your restore check points. It only happened to me once so I can't say if it was a fluke on my end, but since then I exclude System Restore and everything stays on just fine. 3660
