Just too slow... 12/22/2006 23:16:00

I can't use this because it's just too slow at what it does. I am also not impressed with it's success rate, but it's so slow that I can't bear to wait to see if it gets better. It's terrific that it's free, and it has some decent features, but I'm not a big fan of blacklists. Today's spam landscape makes blacklists next to useless. I also prefer a "SPAM / Not SPAM" classification instead of the "To Blacklist / To Whitelist" that this program uses. I can't say that I'd recommend this to others, sorry, it's just not for me. 15135

Program works, but!... 10/26/2006 16:56:00

Program seems to work pretty good with Outlook Express. But once I installed this program I could no longer receive streaming internet radio broadcasts! I thought my PC screwed up, 3 different browsers (IE6 and IE7, Opera 9, Firefox 2) could not connect to any of 3 radio stations to play the stream (wfmd.com, woai.com, wmal.com). I uninstalled SpamAware and my radio stations were back. Re-installed SpamAware and no more radio. Uninstalled SpamAware and radio back. I give a Poor features rating due to radio conflict. 14518

I installed SpamAware and used it for a week and it only identified 1 spam.(yes, it was scanning because I checked for the tag line in properties of the e-mail) It basically just goes by a blacklist which you build as you use it. You already have the block sender feature in Outlook Express, same thing. I then tried K-9, the first time it opened it sent 40% of spam to Spam folder. Second day it filtered almost all the spam. I highly recommend K-9 over this product. 14262

Simple and effective but slow... 10/21/2005 07:56:00

SpamAware is a simple, effective tool. Not a proxy type application, it loads directly into Microsoft Outlook Express. Once installed, there is little to do; merely click a button if it mis-identifies spam as friendly. The product is slow compared to others, in part because it goes out to public blacklist servers as part of its checking. Overall its simplicity and accuracy make me continue using it. 10564
